Next stop Motivation...


Many of the people who contact me regarding health and fitness are just like I was - I needed the motivation to get up and go.  Once I started talking to my coach and coming up with a plan for my health and fitness journey I was excited!!

Then once I got started with my first program Chalean Extreme it was really hard for me to find the time to get my exercise in.  Some days I did and some I didn't.  I was a part of a Challenge Group and I saw all the other people in the group posting about their workout they got in that day and I thought well they can do it, why can't I?  


See I needed the motivation to get started, but then I needed the motivation to continue.  Thankfully I had a great support system that was there for me, when I wasn't there for myself.  The other challengers in my group and my coach helped keep me on track.  They were posting everyday about their workout, what they ate, and whether or not they had their Shakeology.  It literally takes a minute to do your daily postings in the group but I kept saying I was too busy to check into the group when in all actuality I was just embarrassed by myself for not keeping up with the rest of the group.  REally I couldn't take 1 minutes of my day to post?    Well guess what that pushed me harder!! I didn't want to be the letdown of the group so I started to  get my workouts in and done and then I too was able to post about my awesome workout.  I started to look at the food I was eating and realized most of the food I thought was healthy was loaded with bad stuff - no wonder I had no energy!! I started slowly eliminating (& buying) all the processed garbage that had become a staple in my pantry.  I was religiously drinking Shakeology daily and never felt better!!


Guess what as time went on I created an amazing habit - I loved to get up early and workout!! It was and still is my own personal "ME TIME" and I am such a happier person when my ME TIME is first thing in the morning working out!! I am in a better mood, I am more patient, I think clearer, I have more energy and I feel FANTASTIC!!


Now looking back I am so happy I decided to take that first step and say yes I want to be a part of a challenge group.  If I hadn't I may not be where I am today!! At the age of 36 I weigh less than I did when I graduated high school and I have the most muscle I have ever had.  By no means am I bulky, I am toned.  Am I exactly how I want to be, no but I will continue to work hard to get to where I want to be.  Rock hard abs are on my list!!

Dream Team Transformations - Real People, Real Changes



Making Life changes can be hard but these men and women know that their health matters.  They take the time to exercise and eat healthy daily.  They worked hard for these transformation that you see in the video.  They will continue to worh hard to either maintain what they have accomplished or push harder to keep making changes.  

You can do it too!! Make it easier on yourself and have a support network that is there with you throughout.  EAch and everyone of these people you see in this video started their journey by joining a challenge group.  This is also how I started my own personal journey and guess what I continue to this day to be a part of challenge groups.  They give me strength when I feel I have none, they pick me up when I get into trouble, they appaud my days when I do well, but most of all the simple fact knowing we are all doing this together is what matters most.  I am not alone and you don't have to be either!!

Summer is Coming!!


Bring on the Summer sunshine and Warm Weather!! I love love love  Summertime! It is  my favorite time of year because I absolutely love sunny days and warm weather.  I live in Eastern PA and this weekend it is expected to be in the 90s here!! Woo hoo!! Bring it on!! I'm ready for Summer - ARE YOU????

Last year was the first time in a long time that I actually looked forward to summer. See in previous years I didn't feel all that great about myself and I hated the way I looked and more so how I felt. Last year though I had found an outlet to help me get myself back in shape and back on track - I participated in my first challenge group. I wasn't in the best shape right off the bat but I was on my way. See it wasn't an overnight fix but it was a fix that would last with me forever. I was losing weight, inches, gained more energy, and found a new focus - health and fitness. 


I want to share with others what I have learned and I want to help others learn to feel good about themselves again. I want you to look in the mirror and say WOW, not only do I feel awesome but I look awesome too!! So here is your ticket to get fit, healthy, and happy - I am hosting a Summer Slim Down Challenge group and we get started June 10th.



Regardless of where you are at in life - it is time for shorts, tank tops, and bathing suits. Time to start thinking about the kids being out of school, trips to the pool, vacations, trips to the beach, party here and party there, summer nights hanging out - do you have energy for all that? Banana and Peanut butter mini sandwiches

So I  know I don't take the best pictures and I should have probably cleaned up the plate a bit to make it look pretty but come on the moment I put these little guys in front of my kids, they devour them!! 

This was our morning snack today - yes myself and my two kids.  
My daughter would eat these at every meal if I let her,  she loves them!!  

Introducing Banana and Peanut Butter Mini Sandwiches... 

Ingredients...
1 banana
1-2 tablespoons natural peanut butter

Directions...
Cut banana into round slices (I always count out an even number so I have a top and bottom)
Spread peanut butter on top of half the banana slices
 Top each with remaining banana slices 
Voila healthy snack for you and the kiddos - complex carb, protein, and healthy fat all in one!!

Tosca Reno's Eat Clean Tips

Tosca Reno's  Eat Clean Tips


Tosca Reno the author of the Eat Clean Diet Recharged (a.k.a my clean eating bible) has an amazing website called the Eat Clean Diet.  She has the most amazing and helpful information on her site and it is one that I frequent often.  Today I am including a few things I learned from her website and her book to help you get started on your own Clean Eating journey....It is a lifestyle that is full of so many rewards for our bodies and minds!!






                                                                                                 Not only do we always wonder how long food is good for but also what are the staples to have on hand when it comes to clean eating. Also what foods should we eat and how many times a day!! 
See this is why I call her book the clean eating bible because I am constantly referring back to it to remind me how to stay on track.  Anyone else need tips like these?   Well look no further here they are for you.  Check out these tips to keep you on track and to ease the anxiety of eating the right kind of food to get the results you really want!!!!                                               


Another question people ask me all the time is, what should I buy at the grocery store?  While this list is comprehensive, I would suggest sitting down each week and designating a planning day.  Make your meal plan and grocery list at the same time then you only buy what you need for the entire week.  If you stick to your list then you are less likely to buy JUNK!!  It also takes the ease out of spending money on food.  A lot of times we let foods go bad, but not anymore because you made a meal plan, a grocery list to go with it, and you plan on using all of the food items you bought!!



Battling sugar cravings is another topic I hear about a lot from my challengers and I went through it too (occasionally I still do).  Sugar cravings are by far the absolute worst thing to go through when trying to adopt a healthier lifestyle.  Whether you quit sugar cold turkey or you slowly cut it out there are withdrawal symptoms. A lot of times you can get a headache, feel sluggish, grumpy, or feel like you are in a fog!  For me it was sluggish and foggy.  It was sheer willpower and the desire to change that brought me through and continues to bring me through.  


This chart is a great visual to help make some sense out of your cravings.  If you can distract yourself, drink some green tea, or get busy most of the time you can avoid the cravings! But the key is you have to WANT to avoid the cravings!  

So if you are just getting started on your Clean Eating journey or have been at it for some time I applaud you for taking care of yourself and fueling your body the way it was meant to be fueled.

I came across this recipe because I had some kiwi that I didn't want to go bad so I figured I would try a shakeology recipe with kiwi.

May 2013 - Day 1 Shakeology 3-day cleanse

This is the third time I am taking part in the Shakeology 3-day cleanse.  Last time there were two of us and now this time there are four!!  I feel it is so much nicer to experience something with other people - if its tough you help one another get through it, if it is rewarding you praise each.

I am trying something new this time around and hopefully it will help me stick to my plan of keeping a journal of my experience.  I am videoing myself...AHHH!! For anyone that knows me, knows I have never been a big fan of the camera so this is HUGE for me!!

Blueberry Banana Pie Overnight Oats

Who wouldn't love having breakfast ready for them in the morning?  I know I would and I do when it comes to this delicious recipe that a friend shared with me.  

BLUEBERRY BANANA PIE OVERNIGHT OATS


Ingredients...
2 cups rolled oats
2 cups skim milk, almond milk, or soy milk
1/3 cup pure maple syrup
3 tablespoons chia seeds
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
2 small bananas, peeled and chopped
1-1.5 cups fresh blueberries
1/2 cup chopped walnuts
1 teaspoon vanilla

Directions...
Mix all ingredients in a casserole dish and place in fridge overnight.  
In the morning, give it a stir and enjoy cold, warm, or maybe even add a sprinkle of granola on top.  

Keeps in fridge for 2-3 days.  
Makes 4-6 servings.



Eating healthy can be so easy, all you have to do is give it a try and go from there.  My guess is, you will feel and feel better!!
