21 Day Fix Meal Planning and More WEEK 3

motivation, i did it, 21 day fix, 21 day fixIsn't there something about knowing you are almost complete with a project that is just so exhilarating?!?!

Not so much about the fact that it will be over but more so for me knowing that I COMPLETED it, finished, done!!  

Week 3 of my 21 day Fix journey is happening this week. I have now completed Week 1 and Week 2!! Woo hoo. I stayed on track with my workouts and I followed the guidelines for the color coded containers. So what are my thoughts so far?  The workouts are great!! They are simple moves but oh my do you feel them. This week I wasn't as sore as I was the first week but you know what they say...

I am very happy I decided to do this program because although I didn't lose any  more inches this week (last week I lost 3!!), I am very happy with my progress. I didn't do this program to lose weight or inches, I did it more so for the Eating Plan part of it all.  Where do I see the most progress?  I can tell the shape of my muscles are more defined and oh my I see ABs becoming more defined as well!! There is truth in saying "ABS are made in the KITCHEN" and this program helped me better understand which food groups I  need to be more mindful of when visiting the kitchen.

I was apparently over eating in the carb department (yellow container) and having more peanut butter (teaspoon category) than I should...how can you blame me though right - ahhh, love my natural peanut

butter. I was also eating way over my allotment of veggies (green container). Well now I know and although it took some time to get adjusted I am very happy I took on this challenge. 

I have been following a clean eating lifestyle for quite some time but I know there is always room for improvement. The 21 day fix, has helped me improve my eating habits. 

There was a reason why I wasn't seeing my abs POP and that was because of my diet!! So instead of whining about not reaching my goal of rock hard abs, this program helped me take a closer look at what I was doing.

and so my final week of the 21 day fix program and I am ready to rock it!!
I got up early today before my family and got my meal plan done!

Tomorrow and Tuesday I will grocery shop for some needed items, but to get through Monday I have everything I need. Then it will be time to slice, dice, and finish as much prep work as I can to make my week easier! 
I am trying two new recipes in this plan - clean eating lentil soup, and crustless vegetable quiche.  If we like them I will post the recipes and our thoughts, so be sure to stop by later this week and see what is a brewing in the Horcher kitchen!! 

So there you have it 2 weeks done, and 1 week left and then I will be a 
21 day Fix Graduate!!

21 day Fix Meal Planning and More WEEK 2

Amazing how times flies by right?!?! I mean hello we are already  in the month of March and soon we will be "Springing forward" and then it will be time for Easter and goodness soon Summer!! By the way after this winter we are having I am VERY EXCITED even more than usual for summer.  I love summer, it is my favorite time of year. Spending time outside, at the beach, the warm weather (even when it is blistery hot I much rather it over cold), the sunshine, ahh I love it all!!

WEEK 1 of the 21 day Fix officially Completed!
Yes time if flying by and what I also cannot believe it that I am already finished with one whole week of the 21 Day Fix.  I have to be honest I wasn't sure if this program would be challenging enough for me. The moves seemed simple enough when I watched the promo videos. I thought I would get bored.  Me and Bored do not go together well when it comes to fitness because then I will have no desire to get my rear out of bed at 5am each morning to get it done.  Well let me tell you, I am pleasantly surprised by the 21 day fix.  The 21 day fix is plenty challenging.  Truly no matter what fitness level you are at, you can benefit from this program.  What I LOVE about it, is that even as you progress you can continue to challenge yourself. Push a little harder, add more weight, increase your reps - there are a ton of possibilities.  What is also nice is the length of the workouts and the program.  So you have 30 minute workouts daily but the kicker is the program is only 21 days in length.  Three weeks that is it! Say you need to step it up a notch because you have a big event coming up (oh say like a cruise - woot woot, that will be in 3 weeks!!) you can get your FIX ON!!

The results that are coming in after just one week from the other 21 day fix participants is off the charts. 10 pounds, 3 pounds, 6 pounds, inches lost, more energy, feeling good about themselves - all of these are huge successes!! 

Now the 21 day fix is not only about the workouts, the other key component and the main reason why I wanted to give the fix a GO is the color coded portion control containers.

It amazes me how much food can fit into these containers!! I thought at first they looked really small but TRUST ME, a whole lot of food fits into these!! My first few days figuring out my meal plan incorporating the containers took me a bit longer than my normal meal planning. This week though it was just like any other week. It is amazing what a few days can do!!

The 21 day fix comes with an Eating Plan book and it breaks down what foods fit into each category of containers. So literally the guess work is taken out of the equation for you. My biggest problem is getting the family to agree on what they want to eat the next week!!

I try as best I can to plan mine and my husbands meals the same as our kids. Usually for lunch the kids do something different lately because I have been all about soup (again this cold winter has me trying to find warmth wherever I can get it). I look forward to the day when the kids eat soup too but we are still working on that one.

Week 1 is done and now onto Week 2!!
How I like to prepare for my weeks is to meal plan and so today I did just that. Here is a peak into my week of FOOD!! Oh how I love thee...

A little tidbit of info is that I am currently doing this 21 day fix program directly with one of my challenge groups. We are all following the plan, supporting, motivating, and helping one another. New things can sometimes be hard in the beginning so that is another reason why I love the support of these types of challenge groups. We are all doing it together!!

Remember this, the 21 day FIX is not a quick fix - the changes you will make if you choose to make them can help you get healthy and stay healthy for the rest of your life.  You cannot snap your fingers and instantly the weight will be gone. You cannot continue to eat the way you do now and expect to see the results so many others are achieving. You have to WANT the changes!!

I also don't expect you to give up all your favorite foods, come on lets get real! 
You would not be a happy camper!! But this program and I will help you learn you can still have your chocolate and wine in moderation!! Yes there will be foods you cut back on and hopefully eliminate down the road but I am all about baby steps. WHY? because those small steps stick and help you get to that bigger better goal!! 

Getting started can be hard but that is where I come in because I will walk you through it all. All I ask is you keep an open mind and look forward to a healthier lifestyle!

21 Day Fix Meal Planning and More

If you have been following my blog you know I like to plan out my week on Sundays!! So today is none other than Sunday and so that means time to get  myself on track for the week ahead. 

What's on the Agenda this week?

My BIRTHDAY!! I will be 37 years old tomorrow the 17th.  My goodness where has time gone! I normally do not look forward to my birthday because it means I am another year older but this year I am looking at my birthday in a whole new light.  It is another day to thank God for giving me this wonderful life. So much has happened in this past year I seriously cannot believe it. A lot didn't happen either and so this year is another year I am thankful to be given another chance to to get it done the right way this time.

So another Sunday, another year older but I am definitely feeling the wiser part this time!! I have learned so much this past year about myself and am truly grateful that I have given my health a spot on my priority list! Some might think that sounds crazy but for so long I didn't treat my health as a priority. I wasn't taking care of myself and that then lead to me not taking the best care of my loved ones who count on me.

I know I know I am suppose to be sharing my 21 Day Fix meal plan but I think it is important to understand where I am coming from and why I choose to do the 21 day Fix program.  I am at my goal weight, I am happy with the shape of my body, I feel great, I have a ton of energy, I am at home with my kids yet working a business that provides adequate income, but I am always looking for ways to challenge myself and ways to expand my knowledge.  This is where the 21 Day Fix comes in...
Yes I workout, Yes I eat healthy but there are always way to improve. What attracted me to the FIX is the color coded portion control containers. Did you know you could eat too  much healthy food too? Well this past week I have learned that I was over eating in many of the food groups. Lesson learned thanks to the handy dandy Fix containers -

Yep those are the containers I use to portion out each of my meals.  
What I also do is create a meal plan that incorporate a set number of these containers throughout the day 3 Green, 2 Purple, 4 Red, 2 Yellow, 1 Blue, 1 Orange, and 2 teaspoons.

I then create my grocery list around what I don't have on my plan, go shopping and start prepping what I can to make life easier throughout the week!! 
Simple enough and it makes the world of difference between staying on track or not!! So there you have it, my meal plan completed and I am all set for another fabulous week!! Have a great Sunday!!
