Week in Review and Planning ahead

Love Love Loving Les Mills Pump!! It seems to get better and better each week.  I can see a noticeable difference in my abs and my butt and thighs.  I can also see more muscle tone in my shoulders and back which to me is HOT!! I always saw those girls that had that type of muscle tone and they just look well put together.  I am not looking to get big and bulky muscle looking but well toned.

Next up is Week 7 of Les Mills Pump.  Last week was the beginning of Phase 2 and oh boy do I feel the burn!! Pump & Shred was on the schedule 3 times and oh baby!!  This week I get introduced to Pump Revolution.

What I am loving about Pump is the actual workouts. Easy enough to follow and yet challenging enough that I am progressing.
What I am not loving so much is the longer workouts with Pump &  Shred BUT it is a great workout!

I have also been substituting in my own cardio in place of the walking that is recommended with the Pump schedule. I workout first thing in the morning before anyone else (well usually) is awake.  I like to get it in and done and off my plate.  In order to have that satisfaction that I am done, I decided it was necessary to add in my cardio in the morning. I have been doing some of my favorite workouts from Turbofire, Les Mills Combat, and Chalean Extreme.  Normally I do get in plenty of walk time between playing with my  kids and my normal chores and daily life.

Next up is what is going on with my nutrition...well I keep trying to get better and better. This past week was Halloween and I am very proud to say I did not have ANY candy. I also limited my kids in their candy intake too AND we did the Switch Witch this year.  have you ever heard of it?  Super cute, super fun, and gets the candy out of the house!!

What helped me the most I feel to stay away from the candy this year is my SHAKEOLOGY!!  I made a shake right before we headed out the door for Halloweening. So I was full from my shake and I was not tempted by the sweet treats.  For anyone that knows me, knows I am usually a sweet-aholic. Not this time, I came prepared!!
me as we were walking with the kids
My shake choice I had was Snickerdoodle!!

So as I was  preparing my meal plan for this upcoming week, I decided it was time to try some new recipes. I am going back to one of my all time favs and that is Vanilla Latte!! Heaven!! and I am trying out Mexican Chocolate, Mocha Frap, and Vanilla Fried Ice cream.  YUM!!

I am also having 2 shakes most days this week because my kids have been sick.  I have found when I double up on my shakes I rarely catch what they have. Remember I am a stay at home mom too so I am with my kids
ALL THE TIME!!

Here is my meal plan for the week.
I highlighted a few recipes that are newer to me.

and with that being said and done it is time for me to call it a night.  I have my plan in place and I feel confident about success this week!!

A New Week and a New Plan!!

Getting my act in gear early this week and it is going to be a busy week!! It's Halloween week and all kinds of festivities are happening around here!! My little ones are super excited for Thursday to come.  My son is going to be the Legendary Iron Man and my daughter is going to be a purple butterfly!! Can't wait!!

Halloween also means lots and lots of candy and other sugar loaded treats.  My husband's family always made caramel covered apples, so this year I am going to try making my own clean eating version of a caramel apple and I have to say I am pretty excited.

Then next on our list is carving our Pumpkins!! We have had pumpkins for over a month now and they have been  making our house look pretty outside but now it is time to put our creativity to use and carve those babies!! It is always so  much fun doing it with little ones!! This year though I am saving the seeds and roasting them.  MMM, can't wait for freshly roasted pumpkin seeds. Maple Cinnamon Pumpkin Seeds is a healthy recipe I have been eyeing up!!

Thursday rolls around and we visit our neighborhood friends and we visit the Pumpkin house.  It is a house in our neighborhood that carves close to 100 pumpkins and displays them throughout their yard.  Unfortunately this is also the last year they will be doing it so we are making sure to get there. The place is usually packed so thankfully we can walk to it from our house.

Following Halloween I am guessing there will be many people who overindulged in the Halloween treats so I will be hosting a Shakeology 3-day cleanse.   I have done the cleanse a few times in the past and it never has disappointed me yet. If you want to learn more about the cleanse or even prepare in advance of Halloween please contact me so we can get a plan in place for you.

To get me through the week I have prepared  my meal plan and I plan on sticking to it just in case I get tempted by a sugar loaded treat Thursday.  It is the last week of the month and do not want to go over our monthly grocery budget.  My plan is to clean out our fridge.  Use up what we have and so not much grocery shopping for me this week.

I will be heading out tomorrow to get a few fresh items I need but my plan is to stay under $15! I won't have much prep for the week either which is nice.  Most of what we are eating is already prepared or I froze portions from a previous time when I made it.

This week is also very exciting for  me because I am entering my  next phase of Les Mills Pump.  Week 6 is beginning tomorrow and I am super pumped!! I am noticing differences in my abs, and thighs (where I need it the most) and my weight has not changed. At this point in my journey I am trying to maintain my current weight. I am happy with my progress and I love Les Mills Pump.

This past week the only new DVD that I started was Les Mills Pump and Shred. I have been following the schedule with Pump & Burn, Hard Core Abs, Flow, and cardio. I feel with the barbell I can handle more weight which my muscles are loving!!
Well you know what that also means - time for my progress pictures and measurements!! AHH, that is always the moment of truth. I am  NOT  a big fan of getting my picture taken so this is always difficult for me but I do have to say the pictures really do tell the true story.  The numbers are great too but for me anyway those pictures tell it ALL!!

Well there you have it my week all planned out!! Next plan is to stay on track!! Easypeasy when I have my strong support system around me. I don't know about you but I need that support to keep me in line and moving in the right direction.  I love love love being a part of challenge groups!!

Have a happy Halloween Week!!
Be sure to check back later this week for my
Boo-tiful Halloween offer!!

Meal Planning and Les Mills Pump

It has been a long time since I gave a progress update of where I am at with my own health and fitness journey so I thought today would be a good day for that.  My kids are having their quiet time right now so instead of folding laundry which I probably should be doing, I am sitting here talking about ME!!  Most people enjoy talking about themselves but I have always found it difficult.  I also don't like my picture being taken so that is also why you don't see many pictures of me either.  So here it goes, what have I been up to.  Well for my fitness side of life I have now completed Chalean Extreme, Power 90, Brazil Butt Lift, most of Turbofire, Les Mills Combat, RevAbs, Focus T25, and now I am on my third week of Les Mills Pump.  Here and there I have mixed in a little of this and that but not full programs. Turbofire I did not complete the full 90 days through -  I started, moved onto another program and then did some more.  I do feel confident in saying that each of these programs has helped me understand the need to change up your routine every now and then so you are working different muscle groups.

As mentioned I am currently in my third week of Les Mills Pump and I am really liking the workouts and the results.  I have been sore which to me is a good thing because it helps me know my body is changing.  I am lifting heavier weights than I have in the past and I am also using a barbell which is new to me.  I have to be honest I had no idea how to even set a barbell up.  The package did come with instructions of course but my husband was nice enough to show me how easy it was to put the bar together and how to use the clips.  All of the equipment was super easy to use and so far no problems with any of it.

In the package I received my workout DVDs, a nutrition guide with a meal plan, fitness guide which comes with the workout calendar so you always know which workout(s) to do on which days, a barbell, 2 clips, 2 five pound weights and 2 10 pound weights.

I am a coach so the option to purchase the Les Mills PUmp challenge pack was not an option for me but if you were to get the challenge pack you save a ton of money.  YOu get everything I mentioned above, 30 day supply of Shakeology - a nutrition shake made with all natural ingredients, 30 day club membership to teambeachbody.com, and free shipping.

Here is the workout schedule for Month 1 (it is a 90 day program):

I have followed the schedule so far but on rest days I tend to do a light workout.  I feel better, have a better day, and want to keep my momentum going so YES I workout even on my rest days.  Again though I keep it very light!! The workouts I have done so far I have enjoyed.  My favorite is Pump & Burn.  I find this one so far to be the most challenging. The squat segment leaves me in pain the next day but again well worth it. Also the chest segment leave my arms feeling like jelly but I can already see improvements in toning and strength.
Next favorite is FLOW because it takes me back to my days filled of yoga.  I also really need this segment because of my body being so sore. The lengthening and stretching really help my body.  I can see drastic improvements after a FLOW session. So many people I talked to said they skipped FLOW and I have to say this particular workout I feel is extremely beneficial to a program like this.

I enjoy the other segments as well but these two in particular are my most favorite.  Every day though has been enjoyable.  The schedule does include specific amounts of times for walking and some days I take walks and other days I will fill in that time with other forms of cardio.  Like yesterday it was freezing cold outside and my husband was out of the house early so I stayed in the house with the kids and revisited my Chalean Extreme days and did Burn it off.

The question I have been hearing most is this, "is this Beachbody workout program Les Mills Pump similar to the Body Pump classes that are offered at local gyms". The answer is yes.  It all comes down to what is best for you.  What I can tell you that I personally see as advantages for myself is getting to stay at home rather than traveling to a gym but I personally prefer at home workouts than a gym environment.  The other advantage is you are on your time not a gym schedule's time.

I will post my 30 day results when the times comes but as mentioned I can already notice differences.  I am not looking to lose weight. As long as I maintain I will be happy with my progress.

Next part of the equation is NUTRITION, what have I been eating.
I am consistent that every Sunday I sit down and write out on a sheet of paper my meal plan for the week, I prep as much as I can based on what I have available at home and then either Monday or Tuesday I go to the grocery store.  I then finish my prepping and continue on with my week.  It is very rare that I go off of my meal plan but life happens as you know and I do occasionally but I always stick to the clean eating principles.  The only time I do not is when I am having my cheat meal for the week.

Here is my meal plan for last week and this week:

If you would like to see my meal plan from the first week of Les Mills Pump, I have that in another post. Let me know and I will send it your way.  If you would like any of the recipes please be sure to email me alysonhorcher@gmail.com. I would be happy to share.  I do occasionally post on here the recipes or on facebook.

Well there is my thoughts so far and I must say I am very happy with the program and how the last three weeks have been.

Best of luck to you on your health and fitness journey.  I know it is not always easy but stick to your plan and always remember WHY you got started in the first place.  If you need additional support please reach out to me. As a coach that is what I do, I help others set and achieve their health and fitness goals.
